OUR WHOLE LIVES:
Comprehensive Sexuality Education at North Shore Unitarian Church
SPRING 2022 Offerings for Parents and Caregivers:
Talking with young people ages 5-7 about bodies, gender, body boundaries and families can be intimidating. In this way, NSUC is excited to offer four short sexuality education discussions this spring. Each 45-minute virtual gathering will be taught by trained facilitators. Participating in these discussions will give the confidence and science-based knowledge you need to support the young people in your life. Sign-up at https://forms.gle/3yxbXSKoPz817DCB9
FALL 2022 Offerings for Children:
Honest, accurate information about sexuality changes lives. It dismantles stereotypes and assumptions, builds self-acceptance and self-esteem, fosters healthy relationships, improves decision making, and has the potential to save lives. For these reasons and more, North Shore Unitarian Church is proud to offer Our Whole Lives (OWL), a comprehensive, lifespan sexuality education class for young people in grades K-1 in Fall 2022.
Participating in our K-1 OWL class can help you educate your child about babies, bodies, consent, and body autonomy. In each of the 8 one-hour sessions, OWL teachers and activities will help your child identify their attitudes, values, and feelings about their sexuality, and others’ sexuality.
OWL participants are guided by trained and screened facilitators through a curriculum that is science based and developmentally appropriate.
OWL parents are key to OWL learning. You will be informed of classroom learning each week and are encouraged to play an active role in developing your child’s sexuality education.
Our 2022 Spring K-1 OWL class is now accepting new families. You do not need to be a member to enroll. For more information or to enroll your child, please contact Jonathan Schlesinger, Congregational Life & Education Coordinator at 847-235-1955 and congregationallife @ nsuc.org (Please omit the spaces in this email.)
