A CHURCH IS A COMMUNITY FIRST
Newcomers to our church are seeking a spiritual home, a place for fellowship, an opportunity to serve, religious education for their children, or a place in which they are free to explore their own spirituality. We’re glad that you found us, and we invite you to get to know our Beloved Community!
WHERE TO FIND US
We are at 2100 Half Day Road, ½ mile east of I94 and 1 mile west of Waukegan Road on the north side of the road. Our driveway is on the west side of the building and if you keep going up the hill and around the building you’ll find visitor parking in our main parking lot. Worship services at North Shore Unitarian Church happen every Sunday morning at 10 am.
HOW DO I FIND MY WAY?
Once through our front doors you’ll be greeted by one of our members. Fill out our visitor form and put on a name tag. That way people will be sure to greet you!
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Dress is casual. You are welcome here.
IS YOUR CHURCH WELCOMING?
We celebrate LGBTQ inclusion in our church and have been certified as a Welcoming Congregation.
DOES YOUR CHURCH HAVE ACCOMMODATIONS?
We are accessible for people with disabilities and have a loop hearing system for services.
WHAT WILL I HEAR AT SUNDAY WORSHIP?
Our Sunday services are about an hour in length. Our community celebrates our diversity of theology, as well as our common values and principles. You’ll hear sermons that provoke thought, give hope, and encourage compassion and inclusiveness. Our talented professional singers and wonderful choir add to services regularly along with frequent musical guests and events.
WHAT’S AVAILABLE FOR MY KIDS?
If you have children, you will want to come a few minutes early so you can get them settled into the appropriate Religious Education class. Children and youth, preschool through high school, participate in our religious education (RE) programs during worship service. The Sunday morning classes are designed to help children develop spiritual values, ethical sensitivity, and an understanding of other world religions. Typically children sit with their parents for the first 15 minutes of the service and leave to go to their religious education classes after hearing a children’s story. If your children would rather stay with you in the worship service, that’s okay too! Some people also choose to sit in the hearth room, just outside the sanctuary, where there is a speaker to be able to hear the full service.
CHILDCARE
Plans are under way to provide childcare each Sunday at 9:45am-11:15am while parents/guardians attend the worship service. People of all ages are also welcome to attend the full worship service.
STAY FOR COFFEE AND CONVERSATION
Following the service is a time for coffee, snacks, and fellowship. We have several folks on the lookout for visitors to make you feel welcome and answer questions.
